Chatting about: Experiential learning...
In this episode I talk about how experiencing things together is the most powerful learning there is. I get to feel this with human students when I teach, and I get to feel this with horses when I practice Freedom Based Training®. We learn from our teachers, we learn more from our colleagues, and we learn the most from our students.

Chatting about: Theories involving freedom of choice…
In this episode I talk about the primary and secondary reasons for the choices made by us and our horses and how much choice we really give our horses. When we create good associations with our company and our leadership there is potential to develop intrinsic motivation which increases the sense of freedom in the horse and the relationship.

Chatting about: Bridging the gap between theory and practice…
In this episode I talk about turning the theory of what we do into practice and how to break goals down into small enough pieces that suit the horse’s speed of learning. Trial and error is a key aspect of learning and developing with our horses. I share my process of learning from my mistakes and adjusting my approach to best suit my stallion Atlas.

Chatting about: Building on Shared Ideas...
In this episode I talk about how Freedom Based Training™ starts from a basis of making good decisions around the horse. Only after a horse starts trusting you more, can you start making decisions for the horse. We do this through a process where we take the horse's idea and add to it, until they see our additions add good feelings to their life. Building on our shared ideas is the way I continue to earn trust and the bond between us.

Chatting about: The “Yes” before the “Yes”...
In this episode I talk about how the way a horse says “yes”. They respond to you with yielding or playing appropriate to the situation. The horse says “no” by responding with fight or flight. When we can learn to accurately read the horse’s thinking and freeze moments this becomes our ability to see the small "yes" answer and lay the foundations for the bigger "yes" answers.
